About The Position

The Whey Lactose Operator is responsible for accurately and efficiently drying product and performing packaging operations. The role includes testing powder products and maintaining product quality, equipment sanitation, and housekeeping standards. The operator follows work instructions and cleaning procedures for drying liquid product, and starts, operates, and shuts down dryers. The operator also maintains appropriate atomization pressures and installs the correct nozzle orifice disc and swirl chamber to achieve optimum powder moisture in the main chamber and finished product.

For packaging, the operator safely runs machinery, monitors operation for malfunctions, makes minor adjustments or repairs, performs quality-control measurements, completes production paperwork, and inspects filled containers to ensure products meet specifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical and analytical abilities and an understanding of dryers, evaporators, and packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently dry product.
• Run quality tests on powder products, including pH tests when required, and determine powder moisture and sediment levels.
• Maintain product quality, equipment sanitation, and housekeeping standards.
• Follow work instructions and cleaning procedures related to drying liquid product.
• Start up, operate, and shut down dryers.
• Coordinate atomization pressures and install the appropriate nozzle orifice disc and swirl chamber to maintain optimum powder moisture.
• Safely operate packaging machinery and observe it for malfunctions.
• Make minor machine adjustments or repairs.
• Conduct quality-control measurements and complete production paperwork.
• Inspect filled containers to ensure products are packaged according to specifications.
