About The Position

We are seeking a Wetland Ecologist / Environmental Scientist to support complex environmental and land-use projects. This role is ideal for a self-directed professional with expertise in wetland science, regulatory permitting, and client-facing consulting. The position combines technical field work, regulatory coordination, project management, and mentoring of junior staff. The successful candidate will work closely with landowners, developers, engineers, planners, and local, state, and federal agencies to deliver practical, compliant, and balanced environmental solutions. Position is available out of Everett, WA on a Hybrid Schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a closely related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in wetland ecology or environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in wetland delineation, mitigation planning, and environmental permitting.
  • Strong technical writing skills with a track record of producing defensible reports.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously.
  • Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and navigating complex approval processes.
  • May specialize in environmental science, biological resources, air quality, GIS, geology, or hydro

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification or ability to obtain.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and environmental reporting tools.
  • Experience leading restoration or mitigation monitoring programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wetland and Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM) delineations in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform wetland site assessments, fish and wildlife habitat assessments, and functions-and-values analyses.
  • Prepare impact analyses, mitigation plans, and environmental assessments.
  • Develop and monitor wetland and stream restoration and mitigation projects.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, maps, and exhibits to support permitting and planning efforts.
  • Lead environmental permitting efforts, including coordination for Section 401/404 permits, Hydraulic Project Approvals (HPA), and other applicable environmental permits.
  • Serve as a point of contact with regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Interpret and apply environmental regulations to support development and conservation goals.
  • Scope projects, support proposals, and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and provide clear, actionable guidance for wetland and ecological work.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary consultant teams, landowners, developers, and public agencies.
  • Act as a technical lead on field investigations and project teams.
  • Train, mentor, and review the work of junior-level ecologists.
  • Contribute to the development of internal standards, best practices, and quality control procedures.
  • Support business development activities, including marketing and client outreach.
  • Assist with internal operations such as project tracking, invoicing coordination, and proposal development.
