About The Position

SYSTRA Canada is seeking a Wet Utility Technologist for a new LRT Project. The role involves leading the development, refining, and progressing the 3D wet-utility model, generating plot-ready plan and profile drawings, and coordinating updates with the broader design team. The position also includes developing preliminary designs for wet and dry utilities and designing utility protection and relocation plans across various design phases.

Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in drafting, engineering design, or a related field is required.
  • 4-8+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work remotely as per EST timings.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (MicroStation, Inroads/Open Roads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D) related to sewers and watermain.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with sewer and watermain design calculation and modelling tools such as Infoworks, EPANET, Infoworks etc.
  • Knowledge of permits, licenses and approval procedures for utilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with GTA public and private utility companies is an asset.
  • Experience with trenchless methods for installing small and large diameter watermains and sewers is an asset.
  • Construction field experience and familiarity with municipal and road authority standards are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, refining, and progressing the 3D wet-utility model.
  • Generate plot-ready plan and profile drawings while maintaining model accuracy.
  • Coordinate updates with the broader design team to ensure a high level of consistency.
  • Develop preliminary designs using CAD tools (e.g., Bentley, Autodesk) for wet and dry utilities.
  • Design utility protection and relocation plans across concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases.
