About The Position

The West Region Mine Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing 3-D mine plans using various data sources, including geologic mapping, drill data, hydrologic information, quality testing results, topography, aerial photography, survey data, and sales forecasts. This role involves gathering and analyzing land use information such as property lines, mining setbacks, easements, zoning, special use agreements, and neighborhood concerns. The engineer will maintain updated life-of-mine site plans, aerial photos, and topographic maps, and assist with reserve documentation. A key aspect of the role is monitoring long-term mine development, identifying and advising on current and future mining challenges, and developing/communicating reserve estimates, short-term and long-term mine plans, and mine reclamation plans. The position also requires ensuring compliance with permit conditions, laws, and regulations, and assisting in the preparation of presentations, documentation, reports, and maps. Responsibilities include estimating stripping volumes, preparing stripping plans, and assisting with bid packages. The engineer will participate in zoning efforts, special projects, and property acquisitions, and identify opportunities for increased efficiencies, maximized reserve recovery, reduced costs, minimized waste, and reduced impacts to neighbors, while also assisting operations managers with cost reduction efforts. The role involves working in diverse geological settings and requires some overnight travel.
