About The Position

The District Director of Youth Development is responsible for ensuring effective and efficient business operations for 10-12 child care sites. This role involves training and development of assigned child care staff, ensuring program quality and compliance, and monitoring results against performance goals. The District Director is fully accountable for maintaining operations, including adequate staffing, full enrollment, maximization of public and private revenues, maintenance of appropriate physical environments, and active community involvement within their assigned region.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree is required
• Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of demonstrated leadership in long-term planning, designing and implementing a successful child care site, and successfully accrediting centers through SUTQ, NAA, and/or NAEYC.
• CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
• Must meet Administrator qualifications for ODJFS Licensed programs.
• Must submit all required paperwork for ODJFS licensing.
• Must submit a staff medical statement as required by ODJFS standards.
• Must obtain and keep current training certification in first aid, communicable diseases, child abuse recognition & prevention as required by ODJFS.
• Must attend all necessary McA, childcare and/or grant related training.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to drive, and have access to own vehicle

Responsibilities

• Supervises all Site Administrators/Coordinators within assigned region.
• Reviews and appraises the effectiveness of directly supervised personnel and makes appropriate training recommendations or staff changes where necessary.
• Continually reviews and evaluates key performance measures regarding service sites, staffing, licensing compliance issues, customer service and fiscal operations to insure for continuous improvements in each area.
• Responsible for staff recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
• Ensures that all third party program standards are being met to the highest quality, including but not limited to SUTQ, Headstart, all YMCA program standards (including HEPA), etc.
• Develops and maintains relationships with school administration, ODJFS, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned regional programs. Ensures that staff respond to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
• Initiates and maintains necessary relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other partners to ensure that all YMCA youth development services exceed all licensure and community requirements.
• Implements and leads any needed staff meetings or training for staff in areas of management, effective supervision, licensing & quality, child care program and other related topics.
• Plans and oversees on-going marketing of Licensed Child Care programs to ensure optimum enrollments.
• Ensures YMCA expectations for high quality programming are being met through routine program evaluation and assessment.
• Explores growth opportunities and expands programming within assigned region in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
• Develops strategies to recruit, motivate and professionally develop staff. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Continually improves recruitment and retention strategies to maintain the best available staff.
• Develops, manages and controls budgets related to all assigned regional child care programming. Monitors enrollment and ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
• Continually improves recruitment and retention strategies to maintain the best available staff.
• Assists in the development of marketing strategies and the creation of program marketing tools.
• Ensures system to obtain public and private revenues and purchased furniture, equipment and supplies is effective and efficient.
• Develops regional program goals annually with input from staff, children and parents and the Child Care team.
• Ability to develop, retain and lead a team of youth development professionals that deliver high quality fiscally child care programs.
• Plans and oversees on-going marketing of Licensed Child Care programs to ensure optimum enrollments.
• Verify that all staff maintains all internal and external required certifications and comply with regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
