About The Position

Hudson Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Wellness Teacher (Physical Education & Health) to join our educational community. The ideal candidate will have experience in curriculum planning, implementation, and adaptation based on National Health and Physical Education Standards. This role requires creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that embraces cultural diversity and multiple perspectives, fostering student growth in creativity and critical thinking. A strong belief in all students' potential is essential, along with the ability to provide differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and feedback for diverse learners. Requirements

  • Valid MA licenses in Health/Family and Consumer Science (all levels) required
  • Physical Education (5-12) license required
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints

Nice To Haves

  • Practicum or teaching experience working in Health Education and/or Physical Education is preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes school health/wellness and health awareness activities (curricular and extracurricular) for students, staff, and parents.
  • Creates engaging lessons and activities as part of a skills-based, comprehensive health education program that favors learning and personal growth leading to health literacy.
  • Establishes positive relationships with students.
  • Allows opportunities for students to develop, learn, practice, and become proficient in skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to become health literate.
  • Develops skills-based performance assessments that gauge student growth around knowledge and skill development.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.
  • Provides appropriate safety instruction and conducts safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure student safety.
  • Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
  • Develops motor skills, physical development, and proper exercise and eating habits among students.
  • Maintains a safe, positive learning environment that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Shows understanding of and sensitivity to different families' home language, culture, and values.
