About The Position

This is a casual, grant-funded position (ending 8/1/2028) within the Mobile Clinic department. The primary purpose of this role is the safe delivery of injections at immunization/vaccine (flu) clinic sites according to HCMC protocol. The Wellness Nurse will also assist clients with completing registration/insurance forms, manage client traffic flow to maintain on-time appointments, and perform additional wellness services such as biometrics and TB testing as needed. The role involves providing follow-up coaching and education to participants.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college
Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience (or equivalent work hours)
OR An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Computer skills; access to the internet and email. Email is primary means of communication between wellness services and remote seasonal employees
Able to push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds as needed
Able to bend, squat and kneel as needed during set-up of clinics.
Proficiency in counseling and administering immunizations and manual blood pressure.
Must have access to internet and email. Ability to check email daily once hired and provided an assignment
Knowledge of computer software, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Windows, Access and Excel
Ability to multi-task.
Demonstrated customer service skills.

Must possess speech/sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must be able to sit, stand, use hand to finger, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach with hands and arms, move intermittently, walk up, and down stairs and walk from car to client home in changing weather.
Must be able to lift, carry and move equipment or supplies, etc. not to exceed 35 pounds
CPR/AED and first aid certifications
Valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation to travel to clinic sites

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree
Experience in immunization and biometric screening clinics
Willingness to learn to use Cholestech machine, perform glucose testing, calculate body mass index, perform TB lab draw and other projects as needed

Responsibilities

Demonstrates ability to landmark injection sites and the safe delivery of vaccine/ immunizations according to polices and protocols to clients
Possess clinical assessment skills to handle emergency situations; ie adverse reaction to vaccine/ immunization
Check registration/ insurance form for completeness and legibility before immunization or screen is administered
Able to arrange for a supply pick-up via computer generated appointment
Use of computer to reconcile clinics. (This generates the number and type of vaccinations given)
Ensures completeness of all forms used at clinic site
Provide clinic/ staff feedback to appropriate members of the corporate wellness team
Provides oversight/mentoring of PSC’s at clinic and wellness site
Willingness to learn and perform biometric screening, TB lab draws and other wellness projects/tests as business needs arise
Provide coaching/ education relative to immunizations, biometric screenings and other wellness tests and projects
Establishes rapport with clients with the purpose of being motivational and help client establish wellness goals
When questions arise from clients, responses are in alignment with HCMC training/ protocols/ mission statements
