About The Position

The Adult Fitness Lifestyle (AFL) Wellness Coach ensures excellent member service in the Fitness Centre by supervising activities, maintaining equipment, performing cleaning tasks, and modeling outstanding service. This role would be consistently working an opening shift during the week from 6:00 - 8:00am.

Requirements

  • Obtain Y Thrive Coaching YMCA certification (within 3 months of hire).
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR-C.
  • Works well with team in a customer service capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (Bachelor of Physical Education, NAIT-PFT) or current personal training certification from an approved certifying body is considered an asset.
  • Strong computer skills with Office 365 word, excel and other applications an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise activities within the Fitness Centre to ensure all members experience a safe and enjoyable workout environment.
  • Engage proactively with members and clients by offering friendly greetings, maintaining eye contact, and anticipating their needs in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Monitor and reinforce appropriate member etiquette in the Fitness Centre, addressing any issues promptly to ensure a positive shared environment.
  • Perform regular cleaning and basic maintenance of fitness equipment.
  • Conduct Fitness Centre orientations and respond to member inquiries.
  • Deliver Y Thrive sessions, ensuring high-quality coaching standards are maintained and documentation is completed.
  • Consistently provide exceptional member service, building relationships with members and supporting them in achieving their fitness objectives.
  • Intervene and educate patrons regarding high-risk or unsafe exercise practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and perform routine maintenance of all Fitness Centre equipment and accessories.
  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA Health Safety/Child Protection and Emergency Response Policies and procedures.
