About The Position

Howard County Medical Center invites applications for the position of a Wellness Center Therapy Assistant at its location in St. Paul, Nebraska. The Wellness Center/Therapy Assistant supports both the Wellness Center and Therapy Departments by delivering excellent customer service, assisting with patient and member flow, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and performing basic administrative and operational tasks. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, required; coursework in health, fitness, or related fields is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a wellness center, gym, therapy clinic, or healthcare support role.
  • Basic knowledge of fitness equipment, exercise safety, or rehabilitation concepts.
  • Familiarity with scheduling systems, electronic health record (EHR) platforms or facility management software.
  • CPR/AED certification, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks such as lifting equipment, cleaning, or assisting with patient transport.

Responsibilities

  • Assist therapy staff by preparing treatment areas, organizing equipment, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
  • Support therapists with non-clinical tasks such as transporting patients, gathering supplies, and resetting rooms between appointments.
  • Manage scheduling functions including appointment reminders, patient check-in, and updating schedules as directed by therapy staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, cancellations, and other operational data.
  • Ensure equipment is sanitized and stocked according to department protocols.
  • Greet and check-in members, providing friendly, professional, customer service.
  • Monitor wellness center spaces to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper equipment use.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks such as filing, record updates, and front-desk support.
  • Support member inquiries, program information requests, and general navigation of wellness services.
  • Help maintain inventory of supplies and assist with minor equipment adjustments.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide support for departmental events, wellness initiatives, or special projects, as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.
