About The Position

Under the direction of the Wellness Coordinator and Wellness Director, the Wellness Center Attendant supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Educate and enforce operational guidelines and regulations with all members. Maintain all weight training equipment and keep facilities organized and clean. Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have current CPR/AED/First Aid certification or complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to build positive relationships with members and other staff.
  • Must accept and demonstrate the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor wellness areas and meet and greet members cheerfully.
  • Assist participants while they are using the facilities and circulate every 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Wear a staff shirt, name tag, appropriate workout pants or shorts, and sneakers at all times during shift.
  • Maintain a neat and clean Wellness Center by performing all outlined cleaning duties and addressing any areas that need immediate attention.
  • Responsible for care, returning, and storage of all equipment.
  • Fill all bottles, wipes, and change towels when needed.
  • Records all maintenance duties in proper log.
  • Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety and injuries.
  • Control occupancy and traffic flow on all equipment.
  • Personal workouts are encouraged but must be scheduled during off-duty hours.
  • Attend all staff meetings, in-house training designated by the supervisor.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
