About The Position

The Wellness Assistant is an integral part of the Fitness and Wellness team within Bethesda. The Wellness Assistant is responsible for leading multiple group fitness classes that range in variety and levels from Yoga to Water Aerobics. This includes counting, cueing, organizing choreography, and much more. Instructors will also orientate new members on the equipment and perform general receptionist duties such as answering and directing phone calls, taking messages, scheduling appointments, and keeping the wellness center tidy.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Group Fitness Certified
  • AED/CPR
  • Basic computer knowledge, well-developed typing, word processing skills, and understanding of basic bookkeeping.
  • Effectively leads scheduled fitness classes, starting and ending on time and incorporating appropriate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down.
  • Demonstrates and instructs proper form and technique to ensure participant safety and effectiveness.
  • Plans, organizes, and leads engaging group fitness sessions, introducing fresh and creative programming ideas.
  • Prepares and maintains all necessary equipment, music, and instructional materials for each class.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher.
  • Ability to answer and direct call politely, professionally and accurately.
  • Demonstrates confidence and sound judgment in all matters.

  • Prefer experience working in a fitness center, certified fitness instructor or personal trainer.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact person for members coming to group fitness classes with a positive and professional manner.
  • Serve as an enthusiastic, positive, high energy fitness instructor.
  • Provide exceptional customer service at the front desk.
  • Greet and direct all members with friendliness and courtesy, insuring their comfort within the facility.
  • Respond to member questions and direct them to appropriate areas of the Wellness Center.
  • Provide clear, accurate and polite information upon request.
  • Manage physician referrals and permission forms, ensuring they are properly documented and filed in each member’s record.
  • Handling administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining member records, processing payments, and responding to inquiries or concerns from members.
  • Enforcing safety protocols, rules, and regulations within the fitness facility to create a secure and supportive environment for members and staff.
  • Performing initial fitness assessments for new members to evaluate their current fitness levels, establish baseline measurements, and identify any specific needs or limitations.
  • Designing and implementing fitness programs tailored to the needs and goals of members. This involves creating workout routines, selecting appropriate equipment and set-up, and ensuring safety standards are met.
  • Other tasks and assignments as requested.
  • Report to work as scheduled and accepts assignments responsibly.
  • Adheres to Bethesda policies and procedures.
  • Engages in all required in-service programs at Bethesda.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and maintains a pleasant, respectful, and friendly attitude towards staff, residents, and visitors.
