About The Position

The WellField Technician is responsible for the monitoring and balancing of the landfill gas wellfield to ensure optimal system performance and compliance. This role involves daily data collection, including flow, temperature, and gas composition readings from individual wells, using specialized equipment such as a gas chromatograph. While performing the duties, the associate is regularly required to walk in adverse conditions and drive an all-terrain vehicle. All duties performed must follow safety guidelines and have a safety-first mindset. Collected data will be entered into a wellfield management program and submitted via daily reports. You must live within 45 minutes of assigned site/area to be considered for this position.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must clear background check and pre-employment and random drug screenings.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.
  • The ability to be punctual, dependable and willing to work long hours if needed is required.
  • The ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • The ability to work days and weekends.
  • The ability to work overtime and respond to callouts during off hours.
  • The ability to respond in a timely manner to any emergency.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
  • Physically capable of performing fieldwork in varying conditions.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication to team success.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.

  • No previous experience is necessary.
  • RNG/Landfill experience, construction/roofing experience, heavy equipment, and/or tool handling experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to identify all test ports of a wellhead and understand their functions, including the use of a manometer, checking differential, and determining flow.
  • Become familiar with basic field tech procedures, including: Performing walk-around inspections of field trucks/buggies, Calculating inlet vs. sales samples, Collecting vent samples and logging data accurately into the computer, Running gas chromatography to collect samples, Locating and using header test ports, Refilling helium bottles properly, Sampling wells (aiming for 40 readings per day), Understanding and applying rules for well balancing.
  • Develop proficiency in Origin software, including: Data entry and retrieving well history, Refreshing and uploading the database, Performing basic data analysis.
  • Balance wells according to procedures, including: Accurately collecting and logging data, Running gas chromatography for samples, Making adjustment decisions based on nitrogen concentrations, Understanding office operating principles and knowing when to change orifice plates.
  • Log pump data such as pump count, line temperature, and pump status.
  • Communicate any issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere to safety practices, use PPE, identify hazards, and address safety concerns respectfully.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to the maintenance log.
  • Communicate effectively with all teams on location to identify issues and contribute to increasing gas flow from the field.
  • Assist in various tasks during upset conditions, including supporting maintenance techs, field techs, construction activities, and plant operations.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards (clean & clear of clutter) in shop, storage, and UTV areas.
  • Comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
  • Follow established field/plant maintenance procedures and design standards.
  • Participate in: Ongoing training and education, Peer-to-peer training and knowledge sharing, Innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
