About The Position

The Welding Technician is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication on hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder components during the manufacturing process. This role involves interpreting blueprints, preparing and assembling parts, and using various welding techniques to build and maintain precision equipment. The Welder ensures all work meets safety, quality, and production standards while supporting the company’s commitment to delivering reliable, durable products. Collaboration with machinists, assemblers, and repair technicians is essential to maintain efficient production and uphold customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, orders, technical specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or repair environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Metal inert gas welding certification
  • Knowledge of working with stainless steel, steel, aluminum, and bronze are essential
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
  • Ability to fabricate jobs from drawings
  • Ability to use tape measures, dial calipers, and use of fixtures
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise
  • Familiarity with machine shop environment and has prior tungsten inert gas welding experience
  • Skilled in MIG, TIG, and stick welding (certifications a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder components preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Weld, repair, and fabricate components for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, repair orders, and technical specifications.
  • Use MIG, TIG, stick, and other welding processes as needed.
  • Prepare, align, and assemble parts prior to welding.
  • Inspect completed welds for accuracy, quality, and durability.
  • Operate welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, and related tools safely.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Work collaboratively with machinists, mechanics, and other team members.
  • Complete documentation of repairs and report defects or issues.
  • Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  • Locate and repairs cracks using inspection equipment and gas torch.
  • Ensure gases are properly stored.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Perform in-process inspection of equipment.
