About The Position

This position reports to the Production Manager and is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties, with authority delegated commensurate with assigned responsibilities. The Welding Supervisor performs duties associated with all welding areas of production.

Requirements

  • Good, solid leadership abilities with the ability to create and maintain a good teamwork environment.
  • Minimum of two years of prior work experience in welding with supervision.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and work experience: Outlook and Excel.
  • Capable of using applicable hand tools correctly and safely.
  • Ability to enforce company rules and policies.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of company products, quality, and safety policies.
  • Good interpersonal and excellent communication skills.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Highly dependable, motivated, and self-driven with excellent attendance.
  • Ability to follow, understand, and strictly abide by Work Instructions (WI).
  • High level of attention to detail is a must.
  • Able to read and write legibly as defined by company standards.
  • Basic math skills as defined by company standards.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of company products and company quality procedures.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Understanding of Basic Processes.
  • Will be given written work instructions on how to perform this job and will be fully trained according to those work instructions.
  • Understands that failure to perform will result in discipline, up to and including termination.

Responsibilities

  • Runs and coordinates departments based on the production schedule and reports quantities and salvage to Excel sheets and the production meeting group.
  • Coordinates production to be within defined HPS goals and within 43 hours/week/employee.
  • Enforces 5S LEAN housekeeping rules and keeps the shop floor clean and organized per company Housekeeping goals.
  • Reports and monitors efficiency per employee, develops corrective action for operators or equipment not meeting efficiency goals, and ensures each employee runs the operation at maximum efficiency.
  • Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees, assigns employees to experienced workers for training, and verifies adherence to work instructions.
  • Verifies and assures that all work instructions are in place on a daily basis.
  • Initiates tickets for Major/Minor and safety critical programs and is responsible for retraining employees after infractions.
  • Confers with the Quality Department on quality issues and takes appropriate corrective action for built products and current production.
  • Confers with management, Human Resources, and/or subordinates to resolve employee issues, complaints, or grievances.
  • Completes all employee performance evaluations.
  • Initiates Discipline Documentation with the employee per JOST’s Policies.
  • Verifies employee attendance and records, and coordinates with Human Resources for accurate timekeeping.
  • Communicates with the Maintenance Department on equipment downtime issues.
  • Directs and ensures area Leads properly tag and place all non-conforming materials in designated areas by the end of the shift.
  • Ensures all safety standards and company policies are followed in their area of responsibility.
  • Effectively participates in corrective action teams to address root causes in a timely manner.
  • Performs any additional duties that may be assigned or are logically inherent to this position.
