About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with a strong background in welding and steel fabrication to support quality initiatives across our manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements while driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.

Requirements

• Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification – Required
• 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Welding Engineering, or Steel Fabrication Quality
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1
• Experience with steel fabrication processes including welding, cutting, machining, forming, and assembly
• Ability to read fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T
• Experience performing or supervising NDE
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• Knowledge of AISC standards
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
• Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
• Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1, ISO 9001, and customer quality standards
• Review welding procedures, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T
• Support welder qualifications and welding procedure documentation
• Oversee weld inspections, dimensional inspections, and NDE activities
• Perform root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and DMAIC
• Verify material certifications and traceability
• Support internal and external quality audits
• Partner with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues
• Approve finished products prior to shipment
