About The Position

C&W Services is the industry leader in cutting-edge maintenance and janitorial programs for facilities ranging from corporate office portfolios and manufacturing plants to large public venues—keeping our client’s facility running smoothly all the time. This role is for a Welding & Pipefitting Technician in Eddyville, IA, with a salary up to $38.75 per hour, working Monday-Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Requirements

  • Welding Certificate
  • 2+ years of Industrial Pipe Fitting, Pipe Welding and Repairs.
  • Certification required.
  • Ability to observe details at close range.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to quickly grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds) is required.
  • Ability to move for extended or continuous periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools.
  • Ability to operate applicable hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts or other vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
  • Must have the flexibility to work all shifts including holidays and weekends as demanded by the job.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of education in industrial maintenance technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team-oriented and safety-conscious environment, adhering to "Safety First" expectations including PJHA process, Observation process, and compliance with all company/site safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on tanks, vessels, piping systems, and structural systems.
  • Layout and fabrication of new and replacement piping systems, including installation of valves and related piping equipment.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance in conformance with established standards.
  • Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards/work procedures and provide work order feedback on discrepancies.
  • Read blueprints and interpret isometric diagrams, or be certified to B31.1 Pipe Welding Code and 6-G in stainless steel.
  • Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Cut workpieces using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knives.
  • Melt lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joints or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form.
  • Install or repair equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.
  • Observe tests on welded surfaces (e.g., hydrostatic, x-ray) to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using precision measuring instruments.
  • Remove rough spots from workpieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torches, or arc welding equipment.
  • Ignite torches and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flames or arcs.
  • Decipher engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
  • Identify required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, and scaffolding, utilizing fall protection equipment.
  • Perform other tasks, including mechanical repairs and maintenance, as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with all company/customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Achieve performance expectations set forth as part of performance appraisals, including employee development planning.
  • Communicate with team members to assist in short- and long-range planning to support company goals and objectives.
  • Maintain personal tools required for the job, including an up-to-date documented personal tool list.
  • Meet physical requirements of the job.
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Complete accurate and timely administrative duties, including time accounting and work order completion.
