About The Position

Greenville Public School District is seeking a Welding Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role is responsible for providing students with essential academic skills for daily living, success on state and national achievement tests, and a foundation for future learning. The instructor will manage the classroom, deliver effective instruction, and evaluate student progress according to district and state standards.

Requirements

A valid Mississippi certificate, license, or other legal credential required.
Degree(s) required in area of major study.

Responsibilities

Utilize and reference district and/or state mandated competencies, objectives, anchor benchmarks.
Use a variety of effective teaching procedures, materials/media, and assessments appropriate for learners.
Document and report to the principal (by grading period) completion of and progress on state benchmarks, frameworks, blueprints, and writing rubrics.
Attend to routine tasks during initial minutes of class.
Use instructional time effectively / time on task.
Promote a positive and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
Provide for smooth transition from one activity to another.
Maintain appropriate classroom behavior.
Maintain poise and self control.
Establish high expectations for learners.
Promote active learner participation.
Show evidence of appropriate and positive student- teacher interaction.
Monitor access and usage of the internet.
Follow the Lesson Cycle.
Show evidence of student growth based on the Mississippi State-Wide Testing Program over a two year period.
Provide guided practice activities for students.
Use interest approach to introduce lesson.
Motivate students with the purpose and importance of the lesson.
Provide instruction appropriate for the level of the learner.
Present lesson in an appropriate scope and sequence.
Provide learners with appropriate practice on lesson content.
Adjust instruction / re-teach as necessary.
Provide appropriate lesson closure.
Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter.
Accommodate individual differences and learning styles.
Use a variety of instructional techniques or methods.
Communicate directions clearly.
Use correct oral and written communication.
Use technology and instructional aides effectively.
Demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and learning.
Address the varied achievement levels of students.
Demonstrate concern for students as individuals.
Document instruction based on state frameworks.
Link state assessments to classroom instruction.
Use a variety of evaluation methods.
Provide appropriate evaluation feedback to student, parents, and administrators in a timely manner.
Maintain records of student performance (grade books, progress reports, rubrics, benchmarks, etc.).
Show evidence of student growth based on the Mississippi testing program.
Incorporate test items that mimic the format of state test items.
Utilize state writing rubrics to evaluate progress on written assignments.
Administer and report progress on state practice tests as required.
Dress in an appropriate and professional manner.
Arrive on time and remain until the designated time to leave for all assignments.
Comply with school policies, State Department of Education regulations, School Board policies, and support the school system.
Attend all meetings, workshops, and in-service training programs required by the school or district.
Demonstrate professional behavior at all times with the community, administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
Maintain equipment and fixed assets according to district policy.
Seek professional development activities to address personal professional growth.
Promote the district's vision, mission, and goals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and other supervisor.
