Primary Functions: Insure that customers both internal and external receive the quality emergency vehicle by inspecting completed welds, and other critical components and reporting any necessary repairs/corrections prior to shipment .

Requirements

  • Level II welding inspection certification
  • Visual weld inspection
  • Dye penetrant testing
  • Eye test
  • Color blindness test
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, assembly drawing, schematics and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
  • Ability to read tape measures and use measuring devices.
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Must possess good mechanical ability and component operation functions.
  • Must maintain a positive rating as described in the training/qualification evaluation.
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Be trained in Hazardous Materials Handling Operations with an annual refresher course.
  • Training will include familiarization with roles as outlined in Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
  • Use functional gauging assigned for inspection of emergency vehicles.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • One year experience in visual and dye penetrant welding inspections.
  • Assembly hand tools.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40#’s without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling or bending positions.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand at a workstation for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks).
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to operate and understand the operation of all protective safety equipment in the area.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hand-Eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of completed welds, on vehicles and other critical components.
  • Understand and carry out Verbal and written directions.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Function with a minimal amount of supervision or no supervision.
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled per assigned department.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Knowledge of basic 12 volt electricity.
  • Perform electrical load and function testing
  • Update production tracking board.
  • Must be able to drive and road test vehicle.
  • Responsible for reporting deficiency in design and suggestion of improvements in design and assembly technique.
  • Responsible for road and function testing of emergency vehicles.
  • Responsible for final electrical sign-off of emergency vehicles.
  • Responsible for inspection and function testing of all emergency vehicles received.
  • Responsible for reporting of warrantable items on units through detail.
  • Responsible for verifying options to orders.
  • Responsible for completing an electrical tag.
  • Ability to train new electrical inspectors.
  • Be compliant with all the rules of conduct and attendance per the company handbook.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Ensure that hazardous waste that is handled is placed into the proper container(s).
  • Familiar with Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
  • Knows spill response procedures and evacuation routes.
  • Fill in for lead when absent.
  • Computer entry of defects and errors.
  • Printing of computer generated reports.
  • Notify supervisor/lead if not on schedule.
  • Follow departmental work instructions.
  • Notify supervisor/lead if encountering maintenance issues.
