About The Position

Miller Electric is seeking a skilled Weld Engineer to join our highly collaborative team that develops cutting-edge welding solutions tailored to the needs of General Manufacturing, Fabrication, MRO, and Personal end users. This role requires an advanced understanding of welding processes, metallurgy, and automation, enabling you to take initiative and demonstrate leadership in your assigned tasks while working with moderate supervision. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of GMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, and SMAW welding processes, techniques, and settings.
  • Experience with welding automation and controls.
  • Basic understanding of electricity and how the variables impact the arc performance and the weldment.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to all customers, technical, and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills, with acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently with minimal supervision, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude, high motivation, and a strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Willingness to invest in personal and professional development, with potential for growth within the organization.
  • Bachelor of Science Welding Engineering (BSWE) or Bachelor of Science Welding Engineering Technology (BSWET) degree required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in welding engineering or related fields.

  • 3-10 years of experience in welding engineering or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on new product development and sustaining initiatives to provide optimum solutions utilizing tools such as oscilloscopes and PC-based software programs.
  • Evaluate welding arc performance for industrial automation welding power supplies.
  • Develop and optimize welding automation solutions.
  • Develop automation welding related solutions for customer challenges and issues.
  • Partner with various levels of the organization, including production, engineering, marketing, and leadership to identify, strategize, and bring to life the latest and greatest welding products to the market.
  • Support cross-functional team members with advanced customer applications and technical challenges.
  • Lead the development and optimization of automation welding processes, procedures and run customer samples, using various materials.
  • Train customers in the use of new automation equipment, both in-house and in the field.
  • Responsible for managing small-scale projects and provides coaching to less experienced engineers.
  • Provide daily telephone support of applications, processes, and automation systems.
  • Evaluate and implement new welding technologies and techniques.
  • Measure and document process and performance characteristics using high speed photography, oscilloscopes and PC based software programs.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation welding cells (controls, secondary circuit, volt sense, cable management, etc.).
