About The Position

This position involves performing program setup and operating multiple automated mechanized welding operations, including TIG arc welder, Dig pulse MIG welder, Magnetic oscillator, and Seam Tracker systems, to produce uniform machine welds for can fabrication. The role requires writing programs, inputting parameters, and making necessary adjustments to complex parts. Additionally, it involves performing various hand and machine fusion welding operations to construct powder containers, interfacing with engineering personnel, and working from blueprints, drawings, and sketches. The position also includes the ability to train others in routine welding tasks and compliance with company rules and regulations, including CORE and EH&S initiatives and wearing required personal protective equipment. Tasks outside the specific scope may be assigned to support department objectives and skill development.

Requirements

  • HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D in the US) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Must have a strong attendance record
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to work hours outside of the regular shift
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to wear a respirator
  • The position requires ascending, descending stairs, standing for extended periods, bending, squatting, twisting, overhead reach, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Requires a knowledge of welding qualities of metals.
  • Clear understanding of shop mathematics involving decimals and fractions.
  • Requires an Instructor level knowledge of fusion welding processes and terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform program set up and operate multiple automated mechanized welding operations, i.e., TIG arc welder, Dig pulse MIG welder, Magnetic oscillator, and Seam Tracker systems to produce uniform machine welds necessary for can fabrication.
  • Write programs and input parameters, and do all necessary adjustments on parts where condition of the part is such that complex problems must be solved to complete the part.
  • Perform a variety of hand and machine fusion welding operations to construct powder containers.
  • Interface with Engineering or design personnel to facilitate fabrication.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, and sketches issued by the engineering dept.
  • Ability to train others to perform routine welding tasks
  • Comply with all company rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Support the cell’s continuous improvement and all CORE and EH&S initiatives, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • May be assigned to tasks not specifically listed within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
