The Dredge Welder works aboard a dredge operating on the lower Mississippi River. The primary dredging season is spent between Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and New Orleans, Louisiana, with winter maintenance in Memphis, Tennessee. The successful applicant must be available for consistent duty and will report primarily from Memphis south. This position requires marine welding experience and work in severe-duty marine conditions, including inclement weather. The welder performs maintenance and repair welding, fitting, and fabrication in difficult outdoor and marine environments, including overhead welding and welding on or in pipe. The role requires daily reporting on the dredge and includes day or night shifts with some rotation. A typical hitch consists of 12-hour shifts for 14 consecutive days, followed by seven days off. The schedule includes days, nights, and weekends, and employees may need to work outside the scheduled hitch as conditions require and regulations permit. The welder works closely with tender boat and dredge personnel and must recognize and mitigate workplace hazards. The position may be considered safety-sensitive because it can involve operating equipment or working near operating equipment, over or adjacent to water, at heights, or on assignments governed by safety-sensitive licensing, credentials, or contracts. Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel offers a competitive benefits package with employer participation, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Employees may participate in the 401(k) retirement savings plan after a waiting period.
