Requirements

  • Valid Red Seal Welder certification, previous experience in maintenance of mobile mine equipment
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence.
  • Capable of reading engineering drawings and CWB requirements for modifications.
  • Solid knowledge of various types of equipment involved with different welding techniques.
  • Ability to recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for repair.
  • Working knowledge of the required codes and mathematic calculations pertaining to the welding trade.
  • Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades.

Nice To Haves

  • CWB, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate quantities of materials needed and safely fuse metals using prescribed welding applications and techniques.
  • Read procedures and prints as part of the diagnostic process, layout work.
  • Conduct inspections on mobile equipment (i.e shovel, loader and excavator buckets, dozer, blades as well as rock truck bodies), diagnose, repair and maintain as needed.
  • Perform quality maintenance work as directed by the supervisor.
  • Strict adherence to all health, safety and environmental requirements and commitment to the continued improvement of OHSE.
  • Collaborate with other departments, tradespeople and contractors to provide innovative solutions.
  • Support maintenance personnel and perform other duties as may be assigned.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
