Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, building and bridge parts. Welding fabricated components per American Welding Society and American Institute of Steel Construction requirements.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience and appropriate welding certifications for type of welds to be performed.
  • Good organization skills
  • Good verbal communication skill
  • Safely performs all tasks in accordance with OSHA and Haskell requirements

Responsibilities

  • Sets up welding equipment for process as required by welding procedure
  • Certified by American Welding Society (AWS) standards for 3G-4G positions
  • Assist Fitter with assembly of fabricated members
  • Uses cutting torch and heating torch to achieve minimum preheat temperatures in base metal and copes beams, as needed
  • Operate mag drills and grinders
  • Operate overhead cranes to position materials for welding
  • Use carbon air arc to back gouge full penetration weld joints
  • Travel as required
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed
