About The Position

MAT Industries LLC, a proud member of MAT Holdings Inc., is a leading manufacturer of air compressors and air brake tanks in the Jackson community. We are hiring for FIRST SHIFT Welder positions, which run Monday through Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm or 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Our ten-hour shift offers three paid breaks along with a 30-minute lunch. This is a production-style environment where you will be welding multiple attachments, including 12 gauge to .179" brackets and tubing. Most welding positions require passing ASME Certification. We are looking for competent MIG welders who can pass a weld test. This is not a machine-welding position. In-person interviews for qualified candidates are taking place now. Requirements

  • Must be competent welders and pass a weld test.
  • Relevant experience in MIG welding within the last 2 years.
  • Machine welding experience is not applicable.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Must be able to report to work each day for your scheduled shift.

Responsibilities

  • Welding in a fast-paced production-style environment.
  • MIG welding multiple attachments -12 gauge to .179" brackets and tubing.
  • Most welding positions require passing ASME Certification, requiring 6" vertical down weld with full penetration on .094 material with a gap of .052". The welded plate root and cover were bent to verify that there were no defects in the weld. Welds cannot have any defects such as porosity, undercut, concave, etc. Welds must be to code and cosmetically acceptable.
  • Follow all safety regulations and encourage co-workers to follow safety regulations.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and encourage co-workers to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
  • Gas metal arc welding, flux cored arc welding.
  • Assemble and MIG weld parts following blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Conduct quality inspections of work.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Conducted repairs, modifications, and retrofits on production items.
  • Provide data to assist in monitoring and tracking project status.
  • Assist in training junior employees and inspecting their work.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Sign off on completed work orders and quality of work.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance, and repair techniques.
  • Actively participate in the development of a LEAN manufacturing culture.
  • May perform various duties that do not always require hand welding. Welders could be assigned to operate various welding and non-welding equipment to meet customer demand.
