About The Position

The Welder I welds components used to build Ditch Witch equipment. The role involves reading blueprints and technical documents, assembling and positioning parts, setting up and operating MIG welding equipment, inspecting completed weldments, and using a computer to manage part and inventory information. Work takes place in a manufacturing plant and includes physical handling of materials and use of personal protective equipment.

Requirements

Have appropriate MIG welding experience or have completed a formal welding training program, or equivalent training and experience.
Pass the required entry-level plate test for production welding.
Have appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools.
Have appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
Be able to handle items weighing over 60 pounds from floor to knuckle; push or pull items up to 50 pounds; handle items up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder; and handle items up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
Be able to perform frequent walking, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing; continuous walking; and occasional sitting and elevated work.

Responsibilities

Read information from blueprints, technical manuals, and other documents.
Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly using hand and air tools.
Use a hoist to lift and position large or heavy components and completed weldments.
Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
Remove components from fixtures, clean and inspect them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies in weldments.
Use a computer to check part locations, inventory, and routing, and to record inventory transactions.
