The Associate II, Welder role involves welding and assembling different pieces using hand-held welding equipment and various materials. Responsibilities include preparing and completing work by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal, testing and inspecting welded components, and working from specifications and shop orders. The role also requires utilizing measurement tools, operating cranes and hoists, reporting equipment issues and safety concerns, and monitoring/controlling robotic welding processes. This includes programming, setting up, and troubleshooting robotic welding equipment, performing visual inspections of weld quality, and providing work reports. The position also entails performing other assigned duties, complying with health and safety guidelines, protecting company reputation through confidentiality, and maintaining professional knowledge. Contributions to team efforts are also expected.

Requirements

No minimum education required
1+ year of robotic welding experience required
Basic knowledge of MIG welding, handheld plasma machines and cutting torches using cutting steel, acetylene and other cutting methods
Basic knowledge of welding techniques, material characteristics, and structural fundamentals
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, and sit up
Ability to use hand to finger, handle, or feel
Ability to climb or balance
Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
Ability to reach with hands and arms
Ability to talk or hear

Nice To Haves

Recognized robotic welding certification
Prior experience with solid core wires and argon/oxygen welding gasses
Prior experience MIG welding of structural steel and plate
3-5 years experience loading, operating and welding in a robotic welding environment

Responsibilities

Weld and assemble different pieces by using hand held welding equipment such as hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures; utilize different materials (plate steel, sheet steel, structural steel, and tubing)
Prepare and complete work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal
Test and inspect welded components to ensure they meet set specifications before moving to the next department
Work from different specifications and shop orders
Utilize ruler, square, templates, and gauges to take and read measurements
Operate cranes, hoists, and lift tables
Report damages on machines and equipment; maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Report all unsafe conditions to management
Monitor/control the robotic welding process
Operate robotic welding equipment to perform welding tasks
Perform visual inspection of weld quality
Program robotic welding systems
Provide work reports/feedback to supervisors or engineering teams
Set up/prepare robotic welding equipment for operation
Troubleshoot/resolve and recover from potential technical issues that may arise
Performs other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules
Protect Chamberlain Group’s and Systems’ reputation by keeping information confidential
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed
