WELDER
About The Position
The Welder will be responsible for receiving direction from the Shop Manager regarding job completion, sequencing, and priorities. This role involves assessing existing equipment for repairs, rebuilding, resurfacing, and refurbishing. The Welder must ensure that work meets standards, maintain shop equipment, and report any needs for extra time or resources to the Shop Manager. Additionally, the position requires meticulous completion and submission of daily reports, checklists, inspections, Hazard Observations, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), First Aid Records, and Spill reports. The Welder will also participate in shop cleaning duties, collaborate with team members, and actively contribute to a safe workplace by participating in safety training and fostering a culture of safety awareness.
Requirements
- Gas Tungsten arc (TIG) welding
- Gas metal arc (MIG) welding
- Oxy-acetylene (OAW) welding and brazing
- Experience with measuring and cutting to size
- Experience with measuring and fitting components to desired dimensions
- Ability to read drawings and use of measuring tools
- Basic understanding of metallurgy
- A valid driver's license and good driving record
Responsibilities
- Receive direction from the Shop manager about jobs that require completion and about job sequencing and priorities
- Assess existing equipment to identify the need for repairs, rebuilding, resurfacing and refurbishing
- Ensure that work that is not up to standards does not leave the shop and that all relevant issues are addressed
- Maintain shop equipment
- Inform the Shop Manager of any jobs that require extra time or resources
- Ensure that all daily reports, checklists, inspections, Hazard Observations, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), First Aid Records and Spill reports are properly completed and submitted
- Participate in shop cleaning duties
- Collaborate with and support other team members
- Maintain a safe workplace and must participate in safety training and practice
- Contribute to a culture of safety awareness
