About The Position

The Energy Cooperative is seeking a skilled Welder to join their team at the Hebron, OH Service Center. This is a non-exempt, highly skilled position within the bargaining unit, responsible for the construction and maintenance of the system. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, demonstrate a high level of responsibility, and possess strong follow-through skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • A minimum of five years of related welding experience.
  • Must have successfully passed all test requirements for welding certification as outlined in the company’s welding procedures and maintain annual or other re-certification requirements.
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and good driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints as required in the fabrication of metering and other gas related facilities.
  • Ability to deal with the general public in a pleasant and courteous manner at all times.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to operate line locators, and other tools and equipment used in the construction and repair of the utility system.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to this type of work and must be familiar with the use of protective clothing and safety equipment.
  • Accept responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity.
  • Perform well under stress, when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations; or in situations in which working speed are critical aspects of the job.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug and physical testing and is subject to random testing as outlined in the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install hot tap fittings for commercial and industrial meter and regulator stations.
  • Fabricate, weld pipe and fittings according to company procedures both in the shop and on the job site.
  • Fuse plastic pipe and fittings according to company procedures both in the shop and on the job site.
  • Participate in the installation and repair of pipeline systems as part of a crew, as necessary.
  • Advise management when parts and materials needed for the fabrication and repair of meter sets, regulator stations and pipeline systems need ordered.
  • May be required to act in the capacity of a Job Leader when necessary.
  • Maintain and make minor repairs on tools and equipment used in job duties.
  • Become familiar with and complete all forms pertaining to maintenance of equipment and plant facilities such as leak orders, material tickets, maintenance records, service tap cards, construction reports, etc.
  • Perform related work as required and other duties as may be assigned provided the work and duties coincide with employee’s qualifications.
