About The Position

We are looking for a Welder to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location. Perform a variety of metal-joining operations on assemblies, subassemblies and components using established manufacturing procedures.

Requirements

  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approval.
  • Experience with all types of welding materials; ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys; castings, forgings, plates, bars, etc., of any required thickness.
  • High school graduate and certified welding program or equivalent
  • Experience with all types and sizes of manual and automatic metal-joining equipment, including but not limited to AC and DC welding machines, sub-arc equipment, torches of all types, and compressed gasses as required.
  • Experience with ovens, hand tools, all required personal protective equipment, clamps, measuring instruments, gauges, dial indicators, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Automatic welding experience (Buggo, Liburdi, Jetline).
  • Experienced in multiple welding processes.

Responsibilities

  • Receive job assignments at workstation with work instructions, drawings, sketches and other necessary information, including additional oral or written instructions from as necessary.
  • Examine instructions, noting specifications and requirements.
  • Obtain all necessary fixtures, tools and related equipment.
  • Prepare surfaces, assemble and position parts as required to be welded, also including layout, assembly and fabrication to drawing requirements.
  • Mount components or assemblies on positioners.
  • Set up required welding or brazing equipment.
  • Check process specifications, follow prescribed procedures and perform assigned operations in all positions.
  • Remove slag, chip and grind visible defects before depositing subsequent passes.
  • Document metal joining sequences as required.
  • Perform chipping, grinding, hand burning, air-arc, or torch operations as required.
  • Grind and prepare weld surfaces for penetrant test and perform penetrant test.
  • Operate ovens for pre-heating requirements.
  • Monitor ovens for stress relief or heat treatment processes.
  • Handle parts and material as required.
  • Hand lift light loads.
  • Operate cranes, hoists, etc., to position or transport heavy loads.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe workplace.
  • Protect all equipment and maintain equipment cleanliness.
  • Observe all safety and hygiene requirements as specified and directed.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, lubrication and fluid levels, and perform simple machine error recovery.
  • Machine operation includes editing programs, proving out programs and utilizing conversational and/or teach modes.
