About The Position

Build your future as a Welder with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. In this job, you will work with a wide range of tools and metals to repair and fabricate equipment. This position supports equipment operations by performing welding, fabrication, and repair work on a variety of machinery. You will play an important role in keeping the county fleet safe, functional, and ready for service.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures
  • Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures
  • Completion of an approved welder apprentice program
  • A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
  • Ability to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting on metal parts and equipment
  • Fix plow frames, blades, spreaders, and other winter service equipment
  • Create or modify metal parts to support equipment needs
  • Use power tools, air tools, and motorized equipment safely during repair work
  • Assist with mounting, removing, disassembling, and reassembling equipment components
  • Maintain safe work habits, observe hazards, and follow all safety requirements
