About The Position

Performs welding processes on aluminum and steel parts. RMS Owego MTA is seeking a welder to support our production manufacturing facility whose mission is to fabricate machined components needed for the success of our armed forces both at home and abroad. The Owego MTA is instrumental in the production of various components utilized on helicopters, radar systems, and electronic warfare systems that are vital to the success of our service men and women.

Requirements

• 1-3 years experience welding aluminum and steel parts.
• 2+ years of GMAW and GTAW welding
• 2+ years of weld fit up
• Understanding of weld symbols, prints and drawings
• Ability to work effectively and reliably as part of an integrated team.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of weld inspection process and associated terminology
• Media blasting experience

Responsibilities

• Performs welding processes on aluminum and steel parts.
• Responsible for a variety of MIG and TIG production welding, as well as maintenance repairs.
• Comfortable working to written work instructions as well as manufacturing drawings.
• Setup necessary fixturing, fit up parts to print, weld, and grind.
• Certify on a variety of welding processes once hired.
• May also be asked to certify on friction stir welding processes using CNC controlled friction stir weld equipment.
