About The Position

This role involves operating welding machines to perform various types of welds, interpreting blueprints, and adhering to quality standards. The welder will also be responsible for tasks such as torch cutting, machine setup, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of welding processes. Additionally, the role requires operating an overhead crane and maintaining equipment.

Requirements

  • Possess a vocational diploma in welding (D.E.P.) or an equivalent ASP certification
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and welding symbols
  • Experience with welding machines, grinders, torches, and arc gouging tools
  • Knowledge of rigging operations and loading methods
  • Manual dexterity, autonomy, and strong teamwork skills

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience required in the fabrication of welded steel structures
  • Hold FCAW / SMAW / GMAW / SAW competency cards and certification from the Canadian Welding Bureau
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, as well as in lifting, rigging, and loading operations
  • Spoken and written proficiency in French and English

Responsibilities

  • Operate welding machines (semi-automatic, FCAW, CO2) to perform fillet or groove welds
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints or instructions
  • Follow quality procedures, work instructions, or the company’s manufacturing standards
  • Perform torch cutting
  • Set up and adjust machines, gauges, etc., for amperage, voltage, pressure, feed rate, and the speed of rollers, rotators, or positioners
  • Meet the requirements for non-destructive testing or equivalent inspections
  • Pay close visual attention, note and report material, tool, or equipment defects to the supervisor, and protect them from damage
  • Gouge and clean metal parts
  • Operate an overhead crane
  • Apply the best welding techniques to ensure optimal productivity and minimal distortion of parts, while maintaining weld quality and deposition rate
  • Perform any other related duties
