About The Position

The welder will work as part of a manufacturing team to ensure daily goals and objectives are achieved in the welding department. This role involves MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, performing work from manufacturing information, bills of material, and written or oral instructions. The welder will utilize manufacturing information to determine necessary parts, inventory, jigs, and fixtures, and obtain materials from stock areas. They will also provide assistance to other sheet metal fabricators/operators, deliver material to/from workstations using material handling equipment, and position work material on the work surface, ensuring correct parts and documentation reach the next process promptly. The position also includes operating spot welders and interfacing with robotic welding, completing necessary preparation steps like wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding, and picking up and placing scrap in appropriate containers. Documentation and record-keeping may be required. The welder will operate various equipment including spot welders, arc welders, cutting torches, power grinders, power sanders, hand tools, bandsaws, drills, temporary fixturing devices, jigs, and fixtures. Periodic inspection of parts using manufacturing information such as drawings/blueprints, making necessary adjustments, and informing supervisors of quality problems are key responsibilities. Maintenance of equipment, including welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing tooling, and minor adjustments, is also required, along with completing maintenance check sheets and reporting any issues. The role may involve flexing to other departments and performing other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of one (1) year of MIG and TIG welding experience or a technical diploma or certification in welding from an accredited institution
  • Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience demonstrating proficiency of welding techniques, shop blueprint/drawing comprehension, and shop math skills
  • Minimum of two (2) years of welding experience
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics, blueprints, and drawings
  • Able to move material as needed using material handling carts (push/pull 50lbs)
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
  • Team player and able to collaborate with others to effectively complete work assignments per customer orders
  • Willingness to participate in training opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible to deliver material to/from workstations using material handling equipment, position work material on work surface. Ensure correct parts and matching documentation reach next process in a timely fashion
  • Operate spot welders and interface with robotic welding
  • Complete necessary preparation steps such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components
  • Pick up and place scrap in appropriate containers. Documentation/record keeping may be required
  • Operate spot welders, arc welders, cutting torch, power grinder, power sanders, hand-tools, bandsaws, drills, temporary fixturing devices, jigs and fixtures, and other metal-fabrication equipment as directed.
  • Inspect parts periodically or as directed utilizing manufacturing information such as drawings / blueprints, make necessary adjustments as required. Keep accurate piece count and other applicable records. Inform Supervisor of any quality problems
  • Be responsible for maintenance of equipment such as welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and minor adjustments may be necessary.
  • Complete necessary maintenance check sheets and inform Supervisor and / or Maintenance personnel of any problems
  • Perform other duties as required including flexing to other departments.
