About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking skilled Welders to join their team, focusing on producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings. The role involves performing MIG welding, operating metalworking machines, fabricating metal parts, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring quality control. The company emphasizes precision and innovation in its production processes.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in MIG welding within a manufacturing environment or equivalent technical schooling is required.
  • Familiarity with grinding tools, drill presses, and ironwork is advantageous.
  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure to 1/16" increments.
  • Basic oral communication skills; ability to read and understand written instructions in English and complete basic logs and reports in English.
  • Physically able to lift, push, pull, and position heavy components as required.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and adhere to company timekeeping and all other policies.
  • Ability to consistently stand for the entire duration of the shift in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • General mechanical knowledge is beneficial.
  • Able to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team player.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and reliability in all tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding to join metal parts, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Operate metalworking machines such as shears, presses, and grinders to shape metal parts as required.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using various hand and power tools, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to accurately fabricate metal parts according to the design.
  • Follow process sheets, blueprints, or verbal instructions from the supervisor to complete production tasks accurately.
  • Maneuver large or heavy parts manually or with the assistance of a crane, as required.
  • Inspect welds throughout the process for quality, using grinding tools as necessary to achieve desired finishes.
  • Keep machines and work areas clean and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Inspect finished work to ensure it meets predetermined tolerances and standards.
  • Assist in other areas or departments as assigned to meet production needs.
