About The Position

CORMETECH, Inc. is seeking Welders to join their dynamic Operations Team. Welders are responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, weld steel modules using MIG welding equipment/techniques, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. The role supports the achievement of site business goals and objectives by ensuring operational goals are met through dedication to safety, quality, and environmental impacts. The primary role involves welding of steel modules using MIG welding equipment and techniques, performing both structural and non-structural welds. Additional projects may include cutting, laying, and button-up tasks. Welders must be able to operate various equipment, including material handling (forklift if required), hand tools, welding machines, welding gas, semi-automated machinery, measuring tools, and computers. The position requires the ability to work assigned shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Requirements

  • Welding certification for both overhead and vertical welding or previous experience and the ability to pass a certification test within 90 days of being assigned the position.
  • Ability to use and operate hand tools, welding equipment, welding gas, semi-automated machinery, measuring tools, and computers.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and schematics including welding symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform quality detailed work.
  • Ability to work efficiently independently and cooperatively on a team.
  • Basic computer skills as required to record hours, read outputs, record information in the systems, and read and respond to e-mail.
  • Ability to arrive on time for work and maintain good attendance record.
  • Very good math and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to measure and compare information and make sound judgments.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to keep others informed.
  • Strong ability to comprehend and follow safety rules and protocols.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 35 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Walking, stooping, bending, crouching, twisting, climbing, and kneeling.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Good basic math and written communication skills required.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints including welding symbols required.
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be able to pass ALL required pre-hiring assessments.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift operations experience.
  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Higher proficiency math skills (fractions, percentages, & units of measure) preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welding of steel modules using MIG welding equipment/techniques, performing both structural and non-structural welds.
  • Performing additional types of projects such as cutting, laying, and button up.
  • Operating equipment including material handling (forklift if required), hand tools, welding machine, welding gas, semi-automated machinery, measuring tools, and computers.
  • Working the required assigned shifts, day and/or evenings and weekends.
