About The Position

The Welding Technician is responsible for operating appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. This role requires the ability to work in various environments, including extreme temperatures, and involves tasks such as assisting with truck unloading, maintaining a clean work area, and potentially attending an on-call schedule for weekend/after-hours callouts. The technician will also learn to read parts diagrams and blueprints, operate forklifts and telehandlers, and determine the appropriate welding equipment for specific requirements. Additionally, the role involves using angle grinders for preparation, aligning components, and identifying opportunities to increase parts sales and improve margins.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2–4 years of experience in parts sales, inventory management, service operations, or a related field
• Proven experience as a welder
• Self-Motivated organization
• Good Multi-tasking ability
• Reasoning skills
• Safety-Conscious
• Basic math Skills
• Strong Communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Technical or business training preferred
• Experience in equipment, industrial distribution, or service shop environments preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in unloading trucks as needed
• Practice good housekeeping of work area
• Able to attend on-call schedule for weekend/after-hours callouts
• Withstand extreme temperatures
• Read SAE and Metric measurements
• Willing to learn parts diagrams and Blueprints
• Able to learn Forklift and Telehandler operations
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment for a method based on requirements
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the part that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces
• Identify opportunities to increase parts sales and improve margins
• Able to stand the entire shift
• Able to work in cold/hot outdoor environment
• Able to operate warehouse forklift
• Able to lift 50 lbs
• Use an oxy-acetylene torch proficiently
• Measuring and Cutting materials to specifications
• Weld components in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
