About The Position

Tenneco Litchfield, part of Tenneco's Clean Air division, is a manufacturing facility focused on producing full exhaust systems and related components for OEM (Automotive Plants) and aftermarket parts. Key customers include General Motors, Ford, Toyota, VW, Nissan, and various aftermarket suppliers. The facility has three departments: Canning (assembly and sealing of catalytic converters and filters), Bending (shaping metal into complex curves for exhaust systems and tailpipes), and Final Assembly (welding bent pipes, cans, hangers, and flanges to create complete exhaust systems). This position involves applying appropriate welding processes to meet specifications, inspecting and repairing welds to support the production and assembly of exhaust pipe components. The Welder will act as an active team member, performing other tasks within their assigned cell and participating in cell-level BOS meetings.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, skills, and experience of welding processes such as Mig and Tig.
  • Ability to set up a welder, apply the appropriate weld process, inspect welds, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, directions, charts, forms, and safety regulations.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to correctly use and read various gauges.
  • Ability to work well with other employees in a team concept.

Responsibilities

  • Handle materials and tools, set-up appropriate weld processes, and inspect all welds and products to assure weld specifications are met.
  • Perform as a team member of a cellular operating group, requiring the ability to learn, perform, and rotate to other workstations within the cell.
  • Perform duties within acceptable quality, quantity, performance, and safety standards.
  • Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on welding equipment to ensure good, safe working conditions and complete daily forms.
  • Apply appropriate welding processes to weld and repair welds on parts per specifications.
  • Perform job duties within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks, and applicable work instructions.
  • Work overtime as required/requested.
  • Obtain necessary supplies and parts and perform proper setup of welding power supplies and controls.
  • Inspect all welds to assure quality standards, troubleshoot problems, and make adjustments as required.
  • Assist other employees in the cell group when welding is not required.
  • Clean welding station and maintain neatness in surrounding work areas.
  • Assist the team in 5S advancements.
  • Assist in the implementation of Lean Principles.

Benefits

  • Starting pay of $25.47 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift premium.
  • Additional pay increases at 6 months and 1 year of employment.
