About The Position

This position is responsible for the quality of their own welds and for inspecting pre-existing welds on received parts to ensure and uphold the integrity of the part. The welder will inspect parts before and after welding to ensure they meet task requirements. They must be able to determine the correct wire for the material with minimal assistance, read and interpret WPS, and preheat material according to WPS requirements with minimal assistance and supervision. The role also involves utilizing the Oxi-Fuel heating torch, maintaining a clean work area, and possessing strong knowledge of fabrication tools like grinders. Reading blueprints/drawings to determine tasks and following job routers are also key responsibilities. The welder will set up weld machines per WPS with minimal assistance, utilize cranes, hoists, and forklifts as needed, and demonstrate strong knowledge of welding practices and standards. They will assist junior-level welders and perform other duties as assigned by management. Safety consciousness and participation in promoting a safety and quality culture are essential, adhering to all NOV Company and Quality, Health Safety Environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5-7 years of traditional welding experience.
  • Vocational education (high school, GED or other appropriate education, commercial or shop training; technical school).
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, clothing, glasses, goggles, respirator/face mask, ear plugs/muffs and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedule.
  • Able to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds.
  • Routinely bend while doing set-ups and verifying measurements.

  • Job Shop and Welding experience is a plus.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for own welds, including quality.
  • Inspect pre-existing welds on received parts to ensure integrity.
  • Inspect parts prior to and post-weld to ensure they meet task requirements.
  • Determine the correct wire for the receiving material with minimal assistance.
  • Read and interpret WPS.
  • Preheat material in accordance with WPS requirements with minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Utilize the Oxi-Fuel heating torch under minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working area.
  • Read blueprints/drawings to determine the task under minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Follow job routers and correctly clock hours for the designated task.
  • Set up weld machine with minimal assistance per related WPS.
  • Utilize cranes and hoists when appropriate.
  • Utilize forklifts, as needed.
  • Assist junior-level welders.
  • Be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to HSE.
  • Promote a safe working environment in accordance with HSE procedures.
  • Participate in actions that promote a safety and quality culture within NOV.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and Quality, Health Safety Environmental policies & procedures.
