About The Position

L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to join our welding team. This position works directly with other welders and welding supervisors on a daily basis. This position may also work with production engineers, the production manager, and the paint and steel prep departments on shop related projects. This position rotates shifts every other week on days and afternoons. Day shift operates Monday through Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm. Afternoon operates Monday through Friday 2:00pm - 10:00pm. OT is possible depending on production needs. As a member of the welding department, you will be responsible for MIG and TIG production welding primarily on various mild and stainless steel, brass, and aluminum material. This position works directly with our Steel Prep and Paint departments as a part of our fabrication and assembly process. This role may observe, guide, and assist with training. Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • High School diploma or GED with 1-year related experience, or completion of technical college welding course.
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Follow instructions and read SP’s.
  • Interact well with others.
  • Blueprint, assembly, and schematic reading.
  • Ability to communicate, in English, effectively and clearly by both written and verbal means.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment written math test and hands weld test, physical, drug and background test.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year Welding degree and 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP system.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience reading SolidWorks blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • MIG and TIG production welding primarily on various mild and stainless steel, brass, and aluminum material.
  • Works directly with Steel Prep and Paint departments as a part of our fabrication and assembly process.
  • May observe, guide, and assist with training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic maintenance on MIG and TIG welding machines.
  • Use of torches, grinders, drill presses, plasma torches, drills, and other shop equipment.
  • Correctly assembly and weld all oil cooler frames, radiator frames, including sub-assemblies, list radiator and oil cooler parts.
  • Collect parts for final assembly and prep for assembly.
  • Responsible for the basic maintenance and care of equipment and tools.
  • Change gas bottles as required.
  • Assist in other areas of production as needed if qualified.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines and procedure.
  • Perform related work and other duties as required by supervisor.
