About The Position

This position is responsible for welding of steel, aluminum and stainless steel parts using MIG and TIG processes. Working closely with the Lead Welder is key to planning ahead and ensuring that all tasks are completed on schedule. This position requires the ability to read drawings and produce a consistently quality product. This is a hands on position that requires a focus on safety. This position reports to the Lead Welder.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Have appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
  • Have appropriate mechanical skills, including experience using hand and air-powered tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.).
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to be certified to operate a forklift and use other heavy equipment.
  • Have appropriate MIG and TIG welding experience OR have completed a formal welding training program (or the equivalent in training and experience).
  • Pass required entry-level plate test for production welding.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 2+ years of field experience with MIG and TIG welding.
  • Certificate from technical school preferred.
  • Demonstrates the ability to weld production jobs to print, while following standard work with little to no supervision.
  • Be knowledgeable of SAP and be able to utilize the system, and assist others, based upon job needs.

Responsibilities

  • Read information from blueprints, technical manuals or other documents.
  • Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly. This includes using hand and air tools such as wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
  • Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
  • Remove components from fixtures, clean and check them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies of weldments.
  • Use a computer to check the location, inventory, routing of parts, and to record inventory transactions.
  • Willing to instruct and train others on best practices in production welding.
