About The Position

Requirements

• Experience with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, Carbon Arc Back gouging, oxy/acetylene torch cutting
• Ability to read structural blueprints
• Read and interpret the Weld Procedures and processes according to AWS and ASME section VIII.
• Ability to understand and apply safety procedures
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment required
• Ability to manipulate tools and assembly components involving fine and gross motor skills sufficient to demonstrate welding job tasks
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb

Responsibilities

• Reviews the assigned job to be welded
• Reviews the weld procedure called out and sets up the welding machine accordingly
• Welds the outside of the job and grinds it into two unique halves.
• Welds the inside of the unit, both halves, and cleans the job cosmetically
• Gets the Supervisor or his designee to do a weld inspection before the job leaves the welding booth.
• Keeps the booth clean and free from clutter each day
• Is responsible for his/her personal Safety as well as helping keep all others SAFE
• May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes. The welder must wear the proper PPE at all times while in the workplace.
• Work overtime as requested along with performing other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
