About The Position

The Welder position is responsible for practicing and promoting a safe work environment, reading and interpreting blueprints, determining appropriate welding equipment, setting up components for welding, and performing various types of welding efficiently and safely. This role also involves maintaining a clean work area, adhering to quality practices, communicating with vendors and customers, inspecting welded surfaces, performing equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, de-burring and grinding components, and loading/unloading trucks. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 3-5 years of aluminum TIG and MIG welding experience, and the ability to obtain welding certifications. Key skills include recognizing safety concerns, using inspection equipment, basic math, reading die drawings, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, attention to detail, and knowledge of metals.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent degree
3-5 years of Aluminum TIG and MIG welding experience preferred
Ability to obtain welding certifications as needed
Ability to recognize safety concerns
Ability to utilize the proper inspection equipment per designated area
A highly motivated self-starter
Strong coordination and judgment skills
Basic math skills
Ability to read die drawings and inspect parts and surface finish according to customer specifications
Ability to effectively work in a team environment
Ability to take part in additional training as needed
Ability to perform and assist with preventive maintenance
Strong communication skills, problem solver, multi-tasker
Ability to properly identify materials
Strong attention to detail
Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties

Responsibilities

Practice and promote a safe work environment throughout the entire facility
Read and interpret customer blueprint specifications to understand product requirements
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
Set up components for welding according to order specifications
Weld components efficiently and safely using various welding equipment
Perform MIG, TIG and other types of weld based on project needs
Keep work area clean and orderly using 5S system
Conduct all processes and procedures in accordance with department key measures
Ensure all quality practices are being followed accurately and efficiently
Communicate Alexandria Industries’ requirements and capabilities with vendors and customers
Use necessary measurement equipment to test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to ensure that parts extruded meet customer specifications
Conduct simple repairs on equipment and machinery as needed
Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment in order to ensure safety, quality and efficiency
De-bur and grind components as needed to achieve precise surface texture
Load and unload trucks in the most cost efficient way for deliveries and shipments
