About The Position

General Dynamics NASSCO, a member of the General Dynamics Marine Systems business unit, is seeking 4 Welders (Journeyperson 4) for their Weld Shop in Norfolk, Virginia. The company specializes in ship construction, repair, conversion, and maintenance for both commercial and national defense assets. This role involves performing welding on various base metals and requires adherence to quality standards for N.D.T. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

• Knowledge of welding on different types of base metals (HY-80 & HY-100).
• Knowledge of different wire and gas combinations.
• Proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
• Ability to weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, and stainless steel.
• Ability to read weld gauges.
• Ability to use hand tools.
• Knowledge of standard item 1689.
• Knowledge of the guidelines of 5S.

• Some guidance from supervision will be needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on different types of base metals, including HY-80 & HY-100.
• Utilize knowledge of various wire and gas combinations.
• Be proficient in SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
• Ensure weld quality is acceptable for N.D.T. (Non-Destructive Testing).
• Weld steel, aluminum, copper nickel, and stainless steel.
• Read weld gauges.
• Use hand tools.
• Follow guidance from supervision.
• Adhere to standard item 1689 and the guidelines of 5S.
