The Welder joins metal components and equipment according to blueprint specifications and fitter layouts. The work includes preparing parts, drilling holes, deburring parts, using a plate shear and Ironworker, and applying oxy/acetylene and plasma cutting processes. The Welder adjusts amperage, current, and gas flow according to the material being welded, and maintains weld quality in accordance with QC standards and policies. The role requires an intermediate-level understanding of GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes, safe work practices, and adherence to company procedures, quality requirements, and the ANDRITZ 8 Life-Saving Rules. The position may make routine technical decisions within established procedures and escalates non-routine issues, unclear specifications, defects, or equipment concerns. It has no independent financial or direct people-management authority, but may support coworkers and suggest process improvements. The position works Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM. Most work takes place in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment, where the employee may encounter moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, electricity, and moderate noise. Physical work includes prolonged standing, bending, stooping, crouching, walking, climbing, balancing, working at heights using ladders or manlifts, and occasionally lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50 pounds.
