About The Position

Welds metal components together with MIG and TIG equipment to fabricate or repair products made from sheet metal both Stainless steel and mild steel. The company, Cowles Operating Company, is a leading manufacturer in the heating industry, with divisions Carlin Combustion and HydroLevel Co. They operate from a modern 220,000 sq. foot facility in North Haven, Connecticut.

Requirements

Technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Depth perception.
Regularly required to stand and sit and have the ability to stretch and reach with hands, arms and fingers.
Frequently required to walk; sit, talk and hear.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Spanish language skills are a plus

Responsibilities

Performs welding operations on a wide range of metals and thicknesses
Involves precision assemblies involving a considerable amount of welding to high strength
Regulates current and voltage from proper penetration and fusion of metals, selects electrode type and size.
Considerable skill required to fuse dissimilar metals, obtain maximum weld strength and avoid distortion.
Skilled with MIG and TIG welding equipment.
Can plan work from drawings or other specifications.
Reports materials, equipment or process problems to supervisor.
Perform any variety of operations within the department to maintain workflow.
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Perform other similar or related duties as required or directed.
Other duties may be assigned.
