About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Welder - A Shift to join our team. The hourly rate for this position is $23 - $35.18 per hour. The core hours are 2:30pm - 11:00pm. This role involves performing routine hand-welding or robotic welding on a repetitive and non-repetitive nature on standard and near-standard assemblies. The Welder will also de-burr, grind, and fit components prior to welding, and grind and polish finished elements as required. They will block jig or position parts prior to welding and assist other operators in their work as directed/required. Work is performed from manufacturing information, bills of material, written and/or oral instructions. The position requires utilizing manufacturing information to determine necessary parts/inventory, jigs/fixtures, and obtaining materials from stock areas. The Welder will provide assistance to other sheet metal fabricators/operators, deliver material to/from work stations using material handling equipment, and ensure correct parts and matching documentation reach the next process in a timely fashion. Preparation work such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components is also part of the role. The Welder will operate various welding and metal-fabrication equipment, inspect parts periodically, and maintain accurate records. Maintenance of equipment, such as dressing welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, and minor adjustments may be necessary. The role also includes maintaining a clean and orderly work area and observing all health, hygiene, and safety policies.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma /GED from an accredited institution.
  • Experienced/demonstrated proficiency of welding techniques, shop blueprint/drawing comprehension, and shop math skills.
  • Candidates must reside within a 50 - mile radius of Fayetteville, NC will be considered. Active - Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine hand-welding or robotic welding on a repetitive and non-repetitive nature on standard and near-standard assemblies.
  • De-burr, grind, and fit components prior to welding.
  • Grind and polish finished elements as required.
  • Block jig or position parts prior to welding.
  • Assist other operators in their work as directed/required.
  • Perform work from manufacturing information, bills of material, written and/or oral instructions.
  • Utilize manufacturing information, determine necessary parts/inventory, jigs/fixtures, and obtain materials from stock areas.
  • Provide assistance to other sheet metal fabricators / operators in performance of their duties as required.
  • Deliver material to/from work stations using material handling equipment, position work material on work surface.
  • Ensure correct parts and matching documentation reach next process in a timely fashion.
  • Complete necessary preparation work such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components.
  • Pick up and place scrap in appropriate containers.
  • Operate spot welders, arc welders, plasma TIG welder, MIG welder, cutting torch, power grinder, power sanders, hand-tools, bandsaws, drills, temporary fixturing devices, jigs and fixtures, and other metal-fabrication equipment as directed.
  • Inspect parts periodically or as directed utilizing manufacturing information such as drawings / blueprints, make necessary adjustments as required.
  • Keep accurate piece count and other applicable records.
  • Inform Supervisor of any quality problems.
  • Maintenance of equipment such as dressing of welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and minor adjustments may be necessary.
  • Complete necessary maintenance check sheets and inform Supervisor and / or Maintenance personnel of any problems.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion; keeping oil deposits off of floor.
  • Observe all health/hygiene and safety policies as directed and specified.
  • Know and follow established job specific and facility wide health and safety procedures and rules.
  • Bring health and safety issues, unsafe acts and safety suggestions to management's attention or correct those they can.
  • Actively participate in accident, injury and illness prevention activities.
  • Develop job safety analysis and safe working procedures.
  • Identify and correct hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in accident, near-miss accident or potential hazard investigations.
  • Keep other employees aware of health and safety practices and activities by actively observing fellow employee work practices and incorporating safety.
  • Maintain 5S and housekeeping in work area.
  • Maintain health and safety equipment in good working order.
  • Actively participate in health and safety training and demonstrate competency based on training received.
  • Participate actively in providing suggestions for the health and safety program improvement.
  • Know and implement regulatory compliance requirements in their work area.
