This role is in Textron System’s Marine & Land Systems business area. The welder will utilize GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) methods to weld tubing components with exceptional precision. This includes comprehensive knowledge of tubing materials and their respective welding characteristics. The position involves welding of aluminum, Stainless, Inconel tubing in all positions. The job requires the ability to work from standing, sitting, lying, and kneeling positions, and some work must be accomplished with the use of mirror welding. The role also involves climbing on and over bulkheads, up and down ladders, tack welding, and using tools like jacks, porta-powers, and come-a-longs, some of which can weigh as much as 25 lbs. Lifting of material and tools, loading and unloading of parts, crawling through craft on top of tees and through manholes, and bending and twisting of the body are also part of the responsibilities. Operation of cranes and forklifts, and use of power tools (gougers, skill saws, cut saws, grinders) are required. The job also involves walking on tops of frames and tees (uneven walking surfaces) and requires the ability to work with hands.
