About The Position

The Welder Technician III is responsible for setting up and performing advanced metal joining and cutting operations on ferrous and non‑ferrous metals, including steel, aluminum, and cast metals, with or without fixtures. This role supports fabrication and welding of structural assemblies, telecommunications shelters, skids, and other modular product lines in support of plant operations, while meeting Eaton’s quality and safety standards. Fibrebond, an Eaton company, designs and manufactures pre integrated modular buildings and power enclosures that protect mission critical equipment for data center, industrial, utility, and communications customers. Headquartered in Minden, Louisiana, Fibrebond is known for its engineered to order solutions that support complex infrastructure projects across North America. In 2025, Fibrebond was acquired by Eaton, expanding Eaton’s modular solutions portfolio while preserving Fibrebond’s strong engineering expertise, customer focus, and manufacturing operations in Louisiana.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Welding certifications in basic welding and MIG welding from a technical college or equivalent program from an accredited institution.
  • Prior welding experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including sheet metal fabrication using standard punch and bend tooling and processes
  • Must successfully pass 1G and 3G X‑rayed weld tests.
  • Only candidates residing within the immediate area of the Minden, LA facility (50-mile radius) will be considered for this position. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced experience reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices (e.g., grinder, saw, tape measure)
  • Experience welding complex structural assemblies or fabricated components
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, grip, stoop, lift, carry, push and pull, and use hands for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and push or pull 50 lbs. or more, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Vision requirements include near and far vision, depth perception, and color discrimination
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately to within 1/16 of an inch and apply basic math skills to blueprint specifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and exercise good judgment with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and assimilate technical information
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of trade secrets, processes, and customer information
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, protective eyewear, and steel‑toed boots
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, manufacturing diagrams, drawings, and operating instruction

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to perform advanced welding and fabrication of structural and mechanical components, including floors, walls, roofs, and assemblies
  • Set up and operate welding equipment to perform MIG welding and other required welding processes across plant operations
  • Perform high‑quality welds and fabrication tasks in accordance with blueprint requirements and supervisor direction
  • Grind, finish, inspect, and clean welds to ensure quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following safety procedures, performing housekeeping duties, and supporting 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Communicate effectively by reporting equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or irregularities to leadership
  • Support Eaton’s goals and philosophies through teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement
  • Perform other job duties as assigned
