About The Position
The Welder Helper supports the lead welder by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Key duties include grinding, cleaning, moving parts, and operating tools.
Requirements
- Valid Louisiana Driver’s License
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to work under varying conditions
- Ability to lift heavy objects
Nice To Haves
- Experience in welding and metalworking
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
Responsibilities
- Assist lead welder in the fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures and equipment.
- Clean and maintain welding equipment and work area.
- Operate hand and power tools.
- Assist in the layout and assembly of metal components.
- Preparing welding machines, setting up torches, gas cylinders, and extension cords.
- Holding parts in place, aligning pieces, and assisting with complex, multi-person tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by lead welder.
- Removing slag, rust, and excess metal using grinders or wire brushes.
