This program is designed for students currently pursuing an associate or technical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the coop/intern experience. It is not designed for graduates. The successful applicants will be trained to operate a boom truck, welding truck, forklift and other support equipment. Positions are available for 3-month terms (May 2027 through August 2027) or 8-month terms (May 2027 through December 2027). Duties at the surface coal mine will be wide and varied, based on needs of the operation. These duties may include all or some of the following: Assist with troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Perform preventative maintenance on draglines, coal shovels and facilities. Read and understand blueprints with the ability to assemble and fabricate parts from them. Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations. Other duties as assigned.
